Real Wealth
There is no real security without community and there can be no abundance if a community is not resilient.
EJAG recognizes that wealth does not equate with a financial statement, and that justice in our communities needs a foundation built upon the real intrinsic wealth among us: our relationships, knowledge, and the natural world around us. Out of this realization the Real Wealth of Portland was born.
We begin with a realization that humanity as a whole, and the U.S. in particular, needs a new economic story. The story predominant in the empires of the last 5000 years, where domination and subordination are the main themes, does not serve humanity and is leading us to destroy the Earth’s life supporting systems. The minority story, seen among many smaller societies around the world and throughout history, is one of partnership and caring. Only when we fully embrace the reality that we are hard wired to care and partner and only when we truly live in right relationship with one another and the natural world will we have a “civilization” that benefits all humans and all forms of life.
